Pool of Water

Izumi Tachiki’s “Pool of Water” is a permanent piece of art belonging to the Echigo Tsumari Art Festival. It was created in 2000 and this picture is from  2009. The standing red man reflected in the background is also an art work. This was a day of wandering through the Autumn hues of the Niigata prefecture in Matsudai. Art pieces dot the rice fields, forests, river banks and streets – all a reminder that seasons change, and every three years this festival enlivens the town.
